Static web pages are the most common type to be found on the web. Usually the entire web site
consists of a series of linked static pages, but they are also found as components in the more advanced sites too.
Where an entire web site is constructed using ‘good old fashioned html’, the site owner is
simply publishing information, rather like a brochure and the term ‘brochureware' is often used.
Small static web sites are cheap to produce, depending on the quality of design and the
complexity of the graphics used but larger static sites create their own problems of structure and navigation.
Companies intending to publish large product catalogues will often find dynamic data driven
sites more cost effective, easier to maintain and more user friendly for their clients.
Static web sites work best when you have something interesting to say, something unique to
offer or if you are providing a point of information for you clients.
